Overview

A valued client is seeking an accomplished Marketing Director to lead the brand, creative, production and research teams, guiding the development and execution of innovative marketing strategies that elevate brand positioning and support commercial success.

This role requires a dynamic individual who excels in strategic thinking, cross-functional collaboration and inspiring high-performing teams.

The successful candidate will steer the overall marketing direction, ensuring impactful campaigns, exceptional customer experience, and data-driven decision-making that enhances market competitiveness.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of short- and long-term marketing and brand strategies
  • Oversee brand innovation across channels including ecommerce, retail stores, social media, digital and international platforms
  • Collaborate with internal teams to align product understanding, customer needs and brand positioning
  • Direct competitor research, customer insights and market analysis to guide product development and launch timing
  • Contribute to management and board reporting on marketing performance and progress
  • Support customer experience initiatives across store design, merchandising and digital integration
  • Manage marketing budgets and investments to maximise return and achieve commercial KPIs
  • Provide strong leadership to ensure team clarity, performance, culture alignment and succession planning
  • Drive talent development, training and capability building within the marketing function
Qualifications

Post-graduate degree (NQF Level 8 or equivalent) in Marketing or a related field

8–10 years' experience, including 5+ years in a senior or management role

Strong commercial, analytical and numerical proficiency

Excellent communication, negotiation and conflict-management skills

Proficiency in IT systems and digital platforms

Deep understanding of the retail sector, market trends and multi-channel trade environments

Experience in research interpretation, social media and digital marketing

Ability to lead creative teams and drive cross-functional collaboration
