Position Summary

The Campaign Manager is responsible for planning, executing, optimising, and reporting on retail media advertising campaigns. This role ensures that campaigns meet client objectives, drive revenue, and enhance customer engagement through data-driven strategies. The Campaign Manager collaborates with brands, agencies, and internal teams to deliver high-performing digital and in-store campaigns across retail media platforms.

About the team

Retail Media at Massmart is a cross-functional, fast-growing division made up of Strategy, Client Success, Operations, Design, and Commercial teams. Together, we enable brands and sellers to meaningfully connect with customers throughout their shopping journey, both online and in-store, by surfacing the right products at the right moments to help customers save money and live better.

Campaign Managers sit within Client Success, playing a pivotal role in delivering best-in-class campaign performance, fostering strong client partnerships, and ensuring our advertisers achieve measurable outcomes across our retail ecosystem.

Retail Media forms part of Massmart’s broader Alternative Revenue business, a key lever in transforming how we unlock value for customers, suppliers, and the business.

What you’ll do
  • Campaign Planning & Strategy: Develop data-driven campaign strategies to maximize brand visibility and engagement, align plans with retail media inventory, and optimize ROAS through detailed media plans and collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Campaign Execution & Optimisation: Launch and monitor campaigns across retail media platforms, ensuring smooth execution, real-time tracking, data-driven adjustments, and compliance with guidelines.
  • Data Analysis & Performance Reporting: Track KPIs, generate actionable post-campaign reports, analyze engagement and sales impact, provide data-driven recommendations, develop automated dashboards, and benchmark performance for continuous improvement.
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Enhance campaign execution speed, accuracy, and scalability by identifying inefficiencies, automating processes, introducing AI insights, and standardizing documentation.
  • Stakeholder & Client Management: Manage relationships with brands and agencies, collaborate with sales and internal teams for campaign execution, communicate performance insights, support new business development, and negotiate timelines and budgets.
  • Compliance, Risk & Governance: Ensure campaigns comply with regulations, monitor ad content for accuracy, implement risk assessments, safeguard data privacy, enforce quality control, and maintain records for compliance.
  • People Management: Foster an inclusive environment, develop tailored performance plans, hold career conversations, encourage continuous learning, support DEI initiatives, monitor team morale, and recognize achievements to promote high performance.
What you’ll bring
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • A postgraduate qualification (e.g. Honours) in a relevant field is advantageous but not essential.
  • 6+ years’ experience in digital advertising, media planning, or campaign management.
  • Experience in retail media, programmatic advertising, ad tech platforms, and customer data analytics, with a proven ability to manage and optimize multiple campaigns in real time, and work with brands, agencies, and retail partners in an advertising environment.
