Maintenance Foreman / General Engineering Supervisor (GES)

Lead plant maintenance to ensure safe and efficient diamond recovery.

Luaxe, Angola | Woodstock Johannesburg – reports to Engineering Superintendent – 2 Positions Available – 07:00 am to 16:30 pm + overtime as required.

The Role

As Maintenance Foreman / General Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading all plant maintenance activities to ensure maximum availability, safety, and compliance. You will coordinate artisans, manage preventative maintenance systems, and oversee projects while driving adherence to engineering standards and statutory requirements. This is a leadership role where you will directly impact plant efficiency, safety culture, and overall production performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate artisans to meet maintenance and safety targets on time and within budget.
  • Oversee safe installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery, structures, and tanks.
  • Manage procurement of materials, equipment, and services, ensuring quality and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Conduct audits to ensure compliance with MHSA, statutory obligations, and company procedures.
  • Maintain asset registers and optimise maintenance schedules for maximum availability and legal compliance.
  • Manage and improve the preventative maintenance program (Fiix) for equipment and tools.
  • Lead plant machinery installations and ensure tooling preparation aligns with production schedules.
  • Prepare and motivate capital and strategic expenditure requests to the Engineering Superintendent.
  • Drive discipline, manage overtime, absenteeism, and performance within the department.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, environmental, and security regulations at all times.
  • Mentor and support subordinates while maintaining a high‑performance team environment.
About You
  • N6 and / or Trade Test qualification through a recognised institution with a Code 8 licence (minimum).
  • Government Certificate of Competency (GCC) and / or ECSA professional registration is advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in DMS and recovery or separation technology, including 3 years at a senior management level.
  • 8 years of experience overall, with at least 5 years in senior management (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of diamond plants, DMS, and recovery circuits.
  • Expertise in engineering standards, best practices, and maintenance processes.
  • Financial, technical, and legal knowledge relevant to engineering operations.
  • Experience in auditing and compliance management.
  • Strong leadership, managerial, and coaching abilities to drive team performance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and maintenance management systems (Fiix preferred).
  • Ability to perform under pressure and enforce discipline in a large team environment.
  • Clear criminal record (security / police clearance required).
