We are seeking an energetic, compassionate and resilient Live-in Carer to join our Out of Home Care accommodation services in Kununurra WA. This is a challenging role but the reward for your dedication and persistence is knowing that you can positively impact the lives of young people who have experienced trauma and may be displaying challenging behaviours as a result.

We are looking for a people-person who young people can trust, with their best interests at heart, who can balance the needs of the young people with the organisational requirements of policy documentation and reporting. Our Live-in Carers are expected to thrive on responsibility, communicate clearly, remain calm in a crisis and be flexible in their responses.

There is no day exactly the same, and you will be responsible for all household functions including cleaning, washing, meal preparation, transporting to and from the community, and engaging the children and youth in various social activities. This role includes sleep over shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Use strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with a wide variety of customers
  • Remain calm in stressful situations
  • Work collaboratively in a complex environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Work within a Self Managed Team
  • Engage the children and youth in various social activities and maintain a safe, supportive home environment
  • Complete household functions: cleaning, washing, meal preparation, and transportation to and from the community
  • Provide personal care where required and ensure safety during sleep over shifts
What you will bring

  • Relevant diploma qualification minimum or extensive experience
  • A current first-aid certificate
  • A current Working With Children Check
  • A current Driver’s License
Desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience as a Live-in Carer
  • Bachelor degree
