A cruise line company in Cape Town is seeking an experienced Line Cook to prepare and cook various dishes onboard. The ideal candidate will have a culinary background, a minimum of 2 years of experience in a high-volume kitchen, and the ability to work under pressure. This role requires collaboration with the kitchen team and adherence to safety standards. Flexible hours are expected, including evenings and weekends.
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and menu specifications On Board Cruise Ship
- Ensure all food is cooked to the appropriate temperature and presented in an appealing manner
- Follow proper food handling and sanitation procedures
- Assist with inventory management and ordering supplies
- Collaborate with other members of the kitchen team to ensure timely and efficient service
- Maintain a clean and organized work station
- Adhere to all company and industry safety standards
- Continuously strive to improve skills and knowledge through training and development opportunities
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Line Cook in a high-volume kitchen
- Culinary degree or diploma preferred
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating high-quality dishes
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment medical examination and background check
