Qualifications

Job description
Introduction

A specialist renewable energy organisation is seeking an experienced Lead Electrician to take full responsibility for the installation and commissioning of photovoltaic systems from start to finish, across residential, commercial, and large-scale industrial projects.

The role oversees end-to-end solar installations, ensuring systems are built to approved designs, commissioned correctly, and compliant with all regulatory and safety standards. Working closely with the Installation Supervisor, Project Supervisor, and Engineering team, the Lead Electrician will manage on-site execution, troubleshooting, system monitoring setup, and quality control.

The position requires strong hands‑on expertise in roof and ground‑mounted PV systems, micro and string inverters, lithium battery BMS analysis, inverter testing, firmware updates, and advanced Excel‑based data analysis. A strong focus on compliance with SANS standards, cost control, quality assurance, and professional customer interaction is essential.

This role suits a technically strong electrician who leads from the front, maintains high standards, and delivers reliable, compliant solar installations on time and within budget.

Desired Experience & Qualification
  • Grade 12 (NQF 4)
  • National Diploma in Electrical / Electronic Engineering (NQF 6)
  • QCTO Red Seal Electrician and Wireman’s License (non-negotiable)
