Job description

On behalf of our client, a prominent organisation within the Financial Services industry, we are seeking a highly specialised Labour Lawyer to join their dynamic team in Cape Town.

This is a unique and challenging opportunity for an experienced legal professional who possesses a distinct combination of expertise in South African labour law. You will act as the key advisor on all employment-related legal matters, ensuring compliance and mitigating risk within a specialised financial environment.

Key Responsibilities :

Provide expert legal advice and strategic guidance on all aspects of labour law, ensuring alignment with both South African legislation.

Manage and advise on all employment disputes, including disciplinary processes, grievances, dismissals, and settlement negotiations.

Draft, review, and update employment contracts, internal policies, and workplace procedures to ensure full legal and regulatory compliance.

Represent the company in various forums, including negotiations and hearings related to labour disputes.

Ensure the business adheres strictly to the Labour Relations Act, the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, and other relevant statutes.

Collaborate with HR and other key departments to proactively manage and mitigate employment-related risks.

Essential Experience & Qualifications :

Must be an Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.

A B.Com in Law and / or an LLB degree is required.

4 to 6 years of dedicated post-qualification experience in labour law.

Previous experience within the financial services industry is highly advantageous.

Exceptional skills in negotiation, communication, and legal drafting.
