About The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and analytical Junior Rewards Specialist to join our Human Resources team in South Africa.

This entry-level to early-career role is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about compensation, benefits, and employee recognition.

The Junior Rewards Specialist will play a crucial support role in the design, implementation, and administration of our rewards programmes, helping to ensure we attract, retain, and motivate top talent across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support on Pay Grade and Short-Term Incentive review project.
  • Assist with job grading and evaluation documentation, ensuring alignment with internal frameworks and market benchmarks.
  • Conduct preliminary research on market pay rates and trends within the South African labour market.
  • Provide administrative support for employee benefits programmes such as medical aid, provident fund / pension, and group life insurance.
  • Compile an Employee Benefits Guidebook and support its communication to employees.
  • Roll out Share & Care initiatives (Group Wellness programme) and drive communications around them.
  • Assist in the development of Rewards Policies, ensuring all rewards practices comply with South African labour legislation (e.g., Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act).
  • Follow up on internal audit action items for Rewards.
  • Prepare routine reports for internal stakeholders and assist with statutory reporting.
  • Assist with the BBBEE / Employment Equity database.
  • Provide support for the Employment Equity Committee and other EE matters.
  • Assist with the collection, validation, and analysis of compensation and benefits data, including participation in local and international salary surveys.
  • Maintain accurate employee data in HRIS (Human Resources Information Systems) related to remuneration, benefits, and job structures.
  • Prepare basic reports and dashboards to support decision‑making related to rewards programmes.
  • Conduct research on emerging trends and best practices in compensation, benefits, and rewards in the South African context.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in rewards processes and offerings.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Rewards and broader HR team as needed.
Education and Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or a related quantitative field.

SARA membership and GRP or CCP certification advantageous.

Experience

2-3 years of experience in an HR administrative role, with some exposure to data analysis, compensation or benefits administration preferred.

Technical Skills

Strong Microsoft Excel skills essential: proficient in pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas, and basic data analysis.

Familiarity with HRIS (e.g., SAP Success Factors, Sage VIP) a strong advantage.

Basic understanding of data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI) a plus.
