Job description

The Junior SHEQ Officer will support the SHEQ department in implementing and maintaining health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across projects. This entry-level position aims to develop foundational skills in SHEQ management while promoting a culture of safety and compliance within the organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the implementation of SHEQ policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of health, safety, environmental, and quality performance across projects.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, unsafe practices, and areas for improvement.
  • Help prepare and maintain SHEQ documentation, including risk assessments, safety plans, and quality control reports.
  • Participate in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, providing input for corrective actions and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in organising and delivering SHEQ training and induction programs for staff and subcontractors.
  • Support the maintenance of a safe workplace by promoting awareness of safety protocols and best practices.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure compliance with SHEQ standards and recommendations.
  • Compile and analyse data related to SHEQ performance, preparing reports for management review.
  • Stay updated on relevant SHEQ regulations, standards, and practices to contribute to policy development.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Quality Management, or a related field (or equivalent).
  • 0–2 years of experience in a SHEQ role
  • Basic knowledge of health, safety, quality and environmental legislation and relevant ISO standards.
