Job description

Responsibilities

• Applying roles in Inspection, Cold Chain, Food Safety and Export Certification related to the specified geographical area.
• Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Agricultural Product Standards Act.
• Ensuring adequate competency levels within the Harmonization framework.
• Inspection and certification of perishable products.
• Inspection of the handling, storage and transport of perishable products.
• Coordinating compliance to prescribed processes, procedures and protocols within the framework of the Perishable Products Export Control Board Act.
• Ensure correct application of quality management systems, procedures and work instructions.
• Ensure adherence to Service Level agreements MOU’s and MOA’s.
• Ensuring effective two-way communication internal and external.
• Administrative tasks and reporting related to the execution of services.
• To ensure PPECB's values is portrayed to enhance a culture of accountability.
• To ensure compliance to Human Resources policies and procedures.
• To ensure compliance to financial policies and procedures.
• Accept the responsibility of continuous self-improvement in their area of responsibility according to the PPECB performance system.
• Participating in the relief duty roster.

Job Requirements

A tertiary qualification in an agricultural discipline.

Desirable: Completed (AETP) Agricultural Export Technologist Programme.

Knowledge, understanding and experience of all inspection services relevant to the specified geographical area.

Competency of product inspection in the listed disciplines below with at least 1 Major Products.

Any of following majors: Grapes, Pome, Stone, Avocados (advantageous), Grain (Advantageous), Citrus (advantageous).

Ithrive and supervisory training attendance would be advantageous.

Knowledge on the cold chain disciplines will be advantageous.

Operational planning; training and organizing skills.

Good communication skills and a team player.

Computer Literacy (Essential).

Tablet literacy (Essesntial).

Excellent customer service skills.

Proven track record of taking ownership enabled by responsible and accountable behaviour.

Essential = A valid code 08 driving license and own reliable vehicle (must have own vehicle)

Good health (ability to distinguishing colour and working at hights, move around hazardous area i.e. packhouses/ Vessel Hatches etc).
