Purpose Of The Job
The Junior Accountant will support the dealership’s finance function by maintaining accurate financial records and assisting with daily accounting operations. The role includes processing supplier and customer transactions, performing reconciliations, and supporting the dealership accountant with key financial tasks to ensure the smooth running of the accounts department.

Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable (Creditors)
- Process supplier invoices for vehicle purchases, parts, and service departments
- Match invoices with purchase orders and goods received notes
- Prepare and process supplier payments in line with company payment schedules
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date creditor ledgers
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve invoice and payment queries
Accounts Receivable (Debtors)
- Raise and post customer invoices for vehicle sales, service, and parts
- Record and allocate customer payments accurately
- Monitor outstanding debts and assist with credit control activities
- Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Produce aged debtors reports for management review
Reconciliations
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations for dealership accounts
- Reconcile vehicle stock funding (floorplan) accounts and investigate variances
- Prepare debtor and creditor reconciliations
- Reconcile control accounts (e.g., payroll, suspense, and intercompany)
- Investigate and correct posting errors or mismatches
General Accounting Support
- Post journals for accruals, prepayments, and adjustments under supervision
- Process employee expenses and petty cash transactions
- Assist with month-end routines and ensure all documentation is properly filed
- Support the preparation of schedules and reconciliations for auditors
- Maintain accurate financial records in compliance with company policies
Qualifications / Experience
- 1 - 2 years’ experience in an accounting or finance role, in the motor industry
- Knowledge of automotive dealership operations
- Experience on Pinnacle Dealer Management System is advantageous
- National Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance (or working towards one)
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and double-entry bookkeeping
Skills / Attributes
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Good communication skills for liaising with suppliers, customers, and colleagues
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced dealership environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with dealership accounting systems
- Positive attitude, team player, and eagerness to learn
