Job summary
A specialized engineering firm is seeking an IT Manager to oversee IT systems aboard a vessel in Cape Town. Responsibilities include managing network requirements, ensuring system security, and maintaining software hygiene. Candidates must have relevant maritime certifications including a Valid Police Clearance Certificate, and strong communication skills. Qualifications
- Valid Passport.
- Valid Seafarers Medical certificate (RSA / Namibia).
- Valid Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) – (RSA / Namibia).
- Seamans Record Book (RSA / Namibia).
- Completion of STCV, MFA, FF, PST, PSSR, HUET, CSA courses.
Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day onboard network requirements.
- Maintain the Security IT system in conjunction with the SSO and Group Security Policies.
- Ensure high IT-systems availability in excess of 85%.
- Generate breakdown reports with suggested remedial actions.
- Manage IT inventory and audit reports.
Skills
Excellent written & verbal communication skills in English
Ability to identify opportunities for technology improvements
Production
- Manage the day-to-day onboard network requirements.
- Manage the issuing of access tokens for crew Wi- Fi connectivity with the OTM.
- Maintain the Security IT system in conjunction with the SSO and Group Security Policies.
- Ensure user productivity software availability.
- Maintain the vessel VSAT system in conjunction with the vendor.
- Ensure high IT-systems availability in excess of 85%.
- Ensure lifecycle of workstations is maintained.
- Maintain high levels of user-system satisfaction.
- Maintain software licensing in conjunction with the Head Office.
- Maintain software hygiene of workstations.

- Ensure computer systems are fit for purpose in line with ITIL lifecycles.
- Ensure that systems use verified, legitimate software.
- Maintain documentation and technical diagrams.
- Ability to identify opportunities for technology improvements.
- Maintain the digital security of the vessel.
Reporting
- Manages IT Daily
- Generates breakdown reports with suggested remedial actions.
- Manage IT inventory and audit reports.
- Manage ticket logging and closing
Sea Going Personnel
- Excellent written &verbal communication skills in English
