A leading IT solutions provider in South Africa seeks an IT Systems Administrator to ensure the seamless operation of IT infrastructure. Responsibilities include system and network administration, user support, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. To ensure the seamless operation, security, and efficiency of our organization's IT infrastructure across multiple sites and locations, including managing and supporting various operating systems, network protocols, cloud services, and security measures.
System and network administration, cloud access management, IT security, and end-user support. Automate tasks using scripting languages, manage wired and wireless networks, provide remote desktop support, and troubleshoot hardware and software issues to ensure optimal performance.
Direct Reports: Senior Systems Administrator, Security Engineer, IT Systems & Support Technician.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent.
Centrally manage user access and permissions through single sign‑on (SSO): create, manage, and delete user accounts and groups across all systems following the principle of least privilege. Implement secure user access controls and security policies. Own uptime, performance, and resilience of company systems (cloud, network, and on‑prem) with monitoring and performance analysis. Maintain server infrastructure (cloud‑first or hybrid) including backups, disaster‑recovery plans, and monitoring. Oversee endpoint management (laptops, MDM, patching) and user lifecycle (onboarding/offboarding).
Ensure scalability and reliability of IT platforms (SaaS, IaaS, internal tools). Ensure efficient and effective operation of internal networks, recommend improvements, ensure sufficient and stable internet speeds, conduct regular maintenance, redundancy, and upgrades as required.
Implement automation tools to streamline IT operations and report on ticket categorisation monthly. Act on IT support tickets and requests from employees, handle escalated requests, manage software issues, and optimise end‑user support. Develop and maintain scripts for routine automation. Oversee scheduled maintenance and associated recordkeeping. Define and manage the Disaster Recovery strategy for the organization.
Define and improve ITIL processes for incident, request, change, and problem management. Monitor ticket volume and identify recurring issues for root‑cause resolution. Drive service desk automation and introduce efficient processes and tools. Provide regular updates and metrics to management (uptime, SLA adherence, backlog, improvement projects). Contribute to IT budget planning and forecasting. Stay updated with industry trends, technologies, and best practices, and recommend upgrades aligned with company growth and technology goals.
Enforce and monitor HIPAA, GDPR, SOC 2 compliance on desktops and mobile devices. Ensure IT systems comply with industry standards such as HITRUST and SOC 2. Create and maintain detailed documentation, workflows, and supporting materials for systems topology, support, and administrative actions. Ensure QMS guidelines are adhered to and all supporting documents are kept up to date. Continuously monitor compliance with IT processes and security rules. Ensure all cybersecurity procedures and processes are followed. Coordinate collaboration between the security engineer and the compliance team for all internal and external security and IT audits, resolving any non‑compliance findings.
