Job description

R 30,000.00 - 60,000.00 (South African Rand)

Selection Criteria:

  • 7 years plus proven industry work experience (Contactable references).
  • Must be able to work both independently and be able to manage a team.
  • Candidate should be creative and have an eye for design and detail.
  • Must be able to work under pressure with quick turnover times.
  • Must have restaurant design experience.
  • Be able to adapt quickly to the work environment.
Conceptualization and Design Development
  • Good understanding of all phases of a project from concept to completion.
  • Develop and compile design presentations with relevant software.
  • Produce technical drawings, joinery and details.
  • Excellent understanding of construction and joinery details.
  • Familiar with local building codes and regulations.
  • Good problem‑solving skills in coming up with design solutions.
  • Procurement experience with a good understanding of FF&E and materials a
  • Keep up with local trends and available materials and construction methods.
Project Management
  • Attend design meetings and actively keep track and partake in site discussions.
  • Be willing and able to lead design meetings with contractors where needed.
  • Good understanding of project timelines and budgets and ensuring all design decisions are in line to deliver projects on time and within budget while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Liaise with external design teams and other associated organisations or
  • Need to be available to travel and work weekends and overtime, when required.
  • Serve as a support role with client correspondence. Actively listening to their needs, preferences, and feedback and incorporating it into the design.
  • Present design proposals and recommendations addressing client concerns and incorporating feedback to ensure alignment with project objectives.
  • Attend meetings with clients and actively taking notes in support to the team lead.
Leadership and Mentorship
  • Provide guidance to junior designers to ensure a collaborative team.
Experience
  • Experience in restaurant/hospitality/residential design would be an advantage.
  • Roll out experience a plus.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Sketch Up, AutoCAD and Photoshop
  • Rendering programs Enscape or similar
  • Proficient in PowerPoint presentations
