Qualification: Tertiary qualification in Instrumentation. Trade certificate in Instrumentation (red seal) is mandatory.

Experience: Minimum of 3 years in instrumentation, preferably in an FMCG environment.

Position Summary

As an Instrumentation Technician, you will drive improvements in machinery and asset performance, reporting to the Automation Engineer daily. The factory is advancing with continuous improvement principles and developing TPM processes, making it an exciting time to join and contribute.


You will be responsible for calibration and maintenance of instrumentation onsite to ensure compliance with food safety standards. Duties include attending to instrumentation faults and breakdowns, calibration of equipment such as metal detectors and X-ray systems.


What Will Make You Successful

  • Minimum 3 years of instrumentation experience
  • Trade certificate in Instrumentation (red seal) is mandatory
  • Qualification: N6/S4 in Instrumentation, Digital Electronics, or Electrical Engineering
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Effective communication with stakeholders
  • Sense of urgency with safety and product quality as priorities
  • Experience with hazardous area ratings and installations
  • Knowledge of control systems, data interfaces, and communication protocols
  • Familiarity with process control via PLC systems; experience with Allen Bradley PLC is advantageous
  • Leadership skills, including facilitating team meetings, coaching, and mentoring production staff
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Long Description

  • Proactive approach to prevent breakdowns and improve equipment performance
  • Perform planned maintenance on plant equipment
  • Install, service, repair, and maintain existing and new equipment
  • Attend to instrumentation faults and breakdowns
  • Calibrate CCP equipment and instrumentation
  • Maintain and repair data coding equipment
  • Fault finding and programming on instrumentation, PLCs, and VSDs
  • Ensure machine availability to meet production targets
