Talent Specialist SSA at Ipsos in South Africa

Ipsos is a global leader in the market research sector and offers amazing opportunities for learning and development. Ipsos South Africa is searching for a Human Resource Business Partner. This role acts as a key member of the management team in driving forward business performance through: developing and sustaining strong business relationships with partners to become a trusted advisor, participating in regular discussions with Managers on all people related needs, such as employee relations, performance management, reward and recognition, succession planning, retention and people development, to identify gaps and develop plans to fulfil both short term and long-term requirements. Working with partners and others involved in management to implement flexible HR programmes, policies and processes.

Key Responsibilities
Recruitment
  • Act as a trusted advisor to hiring managers on recruitment matters, through accurate forecasting and management of expenditure against agreed budgets and within agreed timescales, reducing costs wherever possible by negotiating agency fees or finding other more cost-effective ways of recruiting, e.g. internal referral scheme.
  • Research new recruitment strategies to drive the business forward and attract/retain best talent.
  • Support the hiring manager by arranging interviews and/or tests and ensure that managers are compliant with best practice.
  • Conduct second interviews in conjunction with hiring managers when required.
  • Write external adverts and job descriptions and post online in a timely fashion.
Labour Relations
  • Identifying legal requirements and ensuring that the appropriate Labour Law is applied.
  • Enforces the Grievance procedure.
  • Enforces the Disciplinary procedure.
  • Representing the Company at CCMA.
Employee Relations
  • Ensure consistency of approach across all business units to deliver harmonious relations across the company, ensuring HR delivery against robust policies and procedures and operating guidelines.
  • Advise Managers on ER policy and changes in employment law that impact the business.
  • Plan and conduct disciplinary and grievance meetings and redundancy consultations.
  • Partner with the Country Managers to ensure maximum employee participation in the annual Ipsos Pulse Survey and to ensure that results are actioned accordingly.
HR General
  • Partner with heads of department on a continual basis to understand business strategy and how each team can best be supported by HR through: Recommending optimal team structures.
  • Using cohesive and consistent tools for mapping change (communication, cost and emotional impact, etc).
  • Acting as a coach in facilitating change.
  • Coaching middle management on performance management and succession planning.
  • Coach managers on effective interview and induction techniques.
  • Handle flexible working requests.
  • Update and implement HR policies as required.
  • Conduct entry interviews for new starters and exit interviews for all leavers and analyze trends.
  • Other ad-hoc HR projects.
  • Participate in management meetings, to advise and support and where appropriate challenge accordingly.
Knowledge and Skills Qualifications
  • Accreditation from Institute of HR Management (or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of HR legislation and current ‘best practice’.
  • Minimum of 7 years HR experience with a good understanding of fundamental disciplines (recruitment, reward, development, and relations).
  • Excellent command of English.
  • Market Research industry experience advantageous.
  • Coaching and supporting employees regarding HR policies and procedures.
  • Designing and implementation of Career Paths and Development Programs in line with the Group policy.
  • HR Policy formulation, review, and compliance guidelines.
  • Management of Mid-Year and Full-Year Performance Appraisals as well as Talent reviews.
