Overview

MCI is a tech-enabled business services company providing Customer Experience (CX), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO), and Anything-as-a-Service (XaaS) cloud technology solutions across multiple industries. Our contact centers use on-site and remote agents to enhance customer journeys, drive scalability and reduce costs. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HR Officer to support payroll, employee relations, compliance, and administration, ensuring smooth HR operations and compliance with South African labor legislation, while contributing to employee engagement and development.

Start Date: ASAP

Shift Pattern: Mon-Fri 15:00–24:00, Sat (hours aligned with US time zones)

This position requires working hours aligned with the United States to ensure seamless communication across teams within that time zone.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruitment & Onboarding

    • Coordinate pre-employment checks, reference verifications and required documentation.

    • Support the induction process to ensure seamless onboarding of new employees.

    • Onboarding of new employees.

  • Payroll & Benefits Administration

    • Collect and verify timesheets, leave records, and payroll inputs.

    • Assist in payroll processing and help resolve payroll queries.

    • Support administration of employee benefits (medical aid, provident funds, UIF submissions).

  • Employee Relations & Compliance

    • Maintain accurate employee records and update HR databases.

    • Manage disciplinary procedures, grievance handling and performance management processes.

    • Ensure compliance with South African labor laws (BCEA, LRA, EEA).

  • Training & Development

    • Assist in identifying training needs and scheduling learning and development programs.

    • Maintain training records and track employee development progress.

  • HR Administration & Reporting

    • Prepare HR reports on attendance, turnover and compliance.

    • Ensure proper filing and documentation of employee records.

    • Support employee wellness initiatives and company engagement activities.

Candidate Qualifications

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Psychology, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 3 years of HR experience, preferably in a generalist role.

  • Knowledge of HR practices in the BPO industry (advantageous).

  • Payroll processing experience is beneficial.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of South African labor legislation and HR compliance requirements.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS systems.

  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Must be able to work fully onsite Monday - Friday US hours.

Additional Information

Physical Requirements: Office environment; primarily sedentary with computer and headset use; occasional lifting up to 40 pounds may be required.
