Key Areas Of Impact
Strategic
- Establish the overall business and site HR needs and implement accordingly.
- Obtain an established understanding of the business and provide and manage the sites HR needs.
- Ensure that the business and site receives all HR related information and support appropriate to improve its efficiencies and productivity.
- Partner with the AVI Group’s HR Shared Services and implement Group requirements and initiatives.
- Manage all HR activities and policies for the site.
- Develop appropriate strategies and programs for training, IR, recruitment, transformation, organizational health and employee relations.
- Establish an optimal HR site structure, ensure it is appropriately populated and lead the sites HR team.
- Plan and submit an annual HR budget.
- Participate in site management forums where appropriate.
Industrial Relations
- Understand and ensure correct implementation of applicable legislation.
- Manage and maintain relationships with Shop Stewards and Unions.
- Ensure effective communication channels are established and maintained between the Company, its employees, Shop Stewards, Unions and other interested parties.
- Establish formal statutory committees and HR forums.
- Manage all conflict situations.
- Understand and correctly implement grievance and disciplinary policies and procedures.
- Organise and attend all grievance and disciplinary hearings and formulate disciplinary charges.
- Advise grievance and disciplinary hearing Chairpersons on evidence, findings and appropriate sanctions.
- Manage all CCMA referrals, including objecting to Conciliation and Arbitration where appropriate, and attend hearings.
- Manage all Court proceedings in respect of Industrial Relation matters.
- Organise and attend wage and other substantive issues negotiations.
- Advise management on appropriate wages and other substantive issues.
- Manage and implement all restructures, employee transfers and retrenchments in terms of LRA.
Training and Development
- Management and supervisory training on personnel management and teambuilding.

- Manage salary increase and short term bonus processes, where appropriate.
Recruitment
- Benchmark and propose suitable remuneration structures for business unit and sites.
- Prepare job profiles.
- Manage all recruitment, selection, and promotions.
- Ensure all internal recruitment processes are properly followed before starting external recruitment.
- Check all applications for employment, organize and conduct interviews where necessary.
- Make recommendations to management on appointments.
Transformation
- Understand all elements of BBBEE and assist/advise management where necessary on general transformation and implementation of scenario planning.

Organisational Health and Employee Relations
- Implement and manage HIV/AIDS programs and Employee Wellness Programs, whether as part of a Group, business unit or Site initiative.

- Manage communication between all stakeholders to ensure appropriate participation by all parties.
General
- Being flexible in performing any other reasonable duties as and when required by your Manager.
- Interact with AVI HR specialists.
- Interact with site and executive community.
- Mentor and be accountable for development of HR staff.
- Willing to occasionally work longer than the normal working hours when required and mutually agreed to.
What It Takes To Succeed
Experience that set you up for success:
- 5 years HR Generalist experience in a FMCG or Retail environment including:
- Strong Labour and Employment Relations background
- Learning and Development
- HR Reporting and Analysis
- Recruitment and Selection
- Exposure to Union and Wage negotiations
Qualifications & Certifications That Will Contribute To Your Success
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Completed Human Resources Degree
