Job Summary
Houston Skilled Consultancy is seeking diligent and detail-oriented Housekeeping Assistants to join our maritime hospitality team aboard luxury cruise ships. As a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, sanitary, and comfortable environment for passengers and crew. This position is ideal for individuals who take pride in cleanliness, organization, and customer satisfaction, and are willing to work in a dynamic, shipboard setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and maintain guest cabins, corridors, crew areas, and public spaces according to shipboard hygiene standards.
- Make beds, change linens, replenish amenities, and handle laundry for guest accommodations.
- Report any maintenance issues or damages promptly to supervisory staff.
- Adhere to strict cleaning schedules and shipboard health & safety protocols.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment and materials are used safely and stored properly.
- Assist with luggage handling during embarkation and disembarkation.
- Respond courteously and promptly to guest requests or complaints regarding housekeeping services.
- Participate in routine safety drills and shipboard training programs.
- Collaborate with housekeeping supervisors and team members for efficient task management.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures and hygiene standards.
- Physically fit and capable of lifting, bending, and standing for long periods.
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Able to maintain professionalism and discretion in a guest-facing role.
Experience
- Prior housekeeping or janitorial experience in a hotel, cruise ship, or hospitality setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Freshers with a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment are also welcome.
Working Hours
- Rotational shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Typical work schedule: 8–10 hours per day with weekly rest hours, as per maritime labor regulations.
- Contract-based shipboard role, usually lasting 6–9 months with possible renewal.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Good interpersonal and communication skills to interact with guests and team members.
- Strong time management and multitasking abilities.
- Understanding of sanitation and infection control protocols.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
- Willingness to live and work in a multicultural, confined environment for extended periods.
