Overview
The purpose of this position is to maintain, service and repair all Electric and IC powered material handling equipment
Minimum requirements
Minimum requirements :
- Qualified Diesel and / or Petrol Mechanic, plus experience with forklifts or similar material handling equipment; or Qualified Forklift Mechanic with Heavy lift Equipment knowledge
- General working knowledge of auto electrical systems (ignition, starting, charging, illumination)
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, diagrams, wiring diagrams, operations manuals and manufacturer’s specifications
- Ability to identify and correctly utilise relevant diagnostic equipment and specialised tools
Duties
- Maintain, service and repair all Electric and IC powered material handling equipment namely Reach Stackers, Empty Container Handlers and Forklifts from 2ton to 32ton capacity
- Carry out fault finding and repair, either on site or in-house, in a timely and cost-effective manner so that customer and company requirements are met
- Maintaining of vehicle repair records and all associated tasks
- Perform accurate diagnosis / troubleshooting of breakdown on equipment; communicate what repairs are needed by advising the designated Workshop Foremen as well as raising repair quotations / costs of repairs
- Maintaining of vehicle / component maintenance / repairs and operational data / history by updating and timeously communicating information that must go on record
- Ensure proper communication between Manager and other staff
- Ensure OHSACT & ASEC requirements are met in all actions on company premises; maintain a safe work environment by verifying safety device operations, following standards and procedures and in general complying with legal regulation
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities Critical checks – FMX Reports, Speed settings, MSWL, Servicing as per agreement
