Position
  • Head of Subject: History Teacher (FET and Senior Phase)

Successful candidate will become part of a cohesive and happy staff team with a clear vision for the power of education in the lives of individuals and, more broadly, in their families and communities.

Minimum Requirements
  • At least two years of relevant teaching experience in the High School Phase in History.
  • At least five years of experience teaching History.
  • Computer literacy and ability to effectively use Microsoft and Google suites to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Appropriate degree and qualification to teach History.
  • Registration with SACE (South African Council of Educators).
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach Social Science and History to a range of classes as specified in the school timetable and lead the History Department as Head of Subject.
  • Carry out extra‑mural activities as allocated which may include, but are not limited to, the areas of your interest.
  • Teach classes, subjects, grades, groups or learning areas in which the employee is competent, when organisational needs demand it.
  • Provide instruction in accordance with the timetable and undertake the relevant preparation, evaluation and assessment duties.
  • Attend school functions, staff meetings, professional meetings/workshops and parent meetings without additional remuneration, or other gatherings as required by the Principal or competent authority.
  • Participate in personal and professional development programmes implemented by or through the school, including site visitation by WCED officials, management staff and colleagues.
  • Perform duties embodied in the Personnel Administration Measures (PAM) determined by the Minister of Education in terms of the Employment of Educators Act and the Regulations made therewith.
