Thekwini TVET College invites suitably qualified and experienced Lecturers to apply for the following contract posts available for 2026 academic year based in Durban.

CONTRACT PERIOD: 2026 ACADEMIC YEAR

Campus: Cato Manor
Ref No: CAT 02/11/2025
Salary Notch: R270 498.00, plus 37% cash in lieu of benefits.

Requirements
  • Matric or equivalent
  • A Diploma in Hairdressing/Haircare (REQV 13)
  • Advanced Teaching Diploma in TVT/Post Graduate Diploma TVET/Diploma in Secondary or Higher Education
  • A Trade Test (Ladies & Gent: Caucasian and Afro)
  • Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator certificates
  • Minimum proven experience of 1 year working in a haircare industry
  • Teaching experience will be an added advantage
  • Computer Literacy, A valid driver’s licence
  • Customer care: Leadership skills – Assertiveness – Good record keeping and Administration skills – Team player – Passion for teaching and learning as well as good Communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Result Areas
  • Conduct theoretical/practical classes as per the qualification requirements – Organize relevant curricular activities to ensure that the subject, learning area of the learners are conducted in a proper manner – Liaise with potential employers for student work placement – Monitor the work placement of students – Report and account for student performance in their programmes – Record and report on absenteeism – Perform other relevant duties within the ambit of teaching and learning – Assist with the issuing and management of learning resources and equipment – Manage the inventory and teaching and learning equipment and consumables – Assess, monitor and record students’ progress and take action to ensure students meet required standards and deadlines.
  • Liaise with Senior Lecturers, Head of Division and Student Support Services officials in providing support interventions to students
  • Invigilation duties
  • Attend to uploading and management of LMS subject related portal.
