Overview
To provide professional and credible legal advice to the group, including all its subsidiary holdings to ensure that legal problems are avoided, risk is mitigated and organisational effectiveness is enhanced. Providing efficient support to EXCO by developing legal compliance strategy and regulatory work in the healthcare industry. The position reports to the office of the CEO. This is a specialist role with no reporting staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional and credible legal advice to the group and its subsidiary holdings to avoid legal problems, mitigate risk and enhance organisational effectiveness.
- Support EXCO by developing legal compliance strategy and managing regulatory work in the healthcare industry.
- Work under the direction of the CEO’s office.
- Operate as a specialist with no direct reporting staff.
Requirements
- LLB degree is a prerequisite.
- A management qualification such as an MBA will be advantageous (NQF level 9 and above).
- Registration with the Chartered Governance Institute of Southern Africa (CGISA) as a Chartered Secretary or a Chartered Governance Professional will be an added advantage.
- Must be an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
- Must have 10 years of legal, risks and compliance experience.
- Must have 10 years drafting legal opinions and providing legal briefs to Senior Counsel.
- Five (5) years at management level leading a team is essential.
- Demonstrated proficiency in application of legal instruments.
- Demonstrated capability to interact effectively with top management.
- Knowledge of Medical law, Medicine Regulations Act, Health Professions Act and related legislation, National Health Act.
- Contract law, Legal Risk assessments, Procurement processes.
- POPI Act.
