Overview
The General Laboratory Assistant position is a hands-on role that provides technical support to Agronomists and Formulation Chemists. The successful candidate will be responsible for testing spray water properties, performing quality control on water reports, and ensuring results meet required specifications and turnaround times, while also assisting with the formulation of products.
Responsibilities
- Laboratory Operations & Inventory
- Monitoring and reporting on laboratory inventory stock
- Restocking and distributing laboratory raw materials
- Testing & Analysis
- Preparing samples for analysis
- Performing routine laboratory tests and analyses
- Conducting spray water property testing
- Quality Control & Reporting
- Conducting quality control on reports
- Ensuring results meet specifications and turnaround times
- Support & Development
- Assisting with fertiliser and product development activities
- Supporting production activities when required
- Investigating sampling and product issues
- Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Maintaining laboratory equipment
- Practising general housekeeping and safe work habits

Minimum Requirements
- Qualifications: National Certificate or Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or similar
- Experience: Experience in a laboratory working environment would be advantageous
- Other specific requirements
- Full professional proficiency in Afrikaans and English (speaking and writing)
- Full proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Medically fit to do manual labour when necessary
- Must be willing to work flexible shifts when operationally required
- Own transport
