Franchise General Manager – Quick Service Restaurants | Mount Edgecombe
Our client who is a Quick Service Restaurant franchise is looking for a General Manager who will have full responsibility for overseeing and optimizing the operations of a growing chain of bakery and coffee franchises. This senior leadership role requires hands‑on operational management combined with strong commercial and financial oversight. The General Manager will ensure consistent product quality, operational efficiency, profitability, and compliance across all locations, including bakery production and distribution functions.
Key Requirements
Experience & Background
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a senior operational role within the food and beverage, QSR, or multi‑site hospitality environments
- Proven experience managing multi‑location operations
- Experience overseeing food production, bakery operations, or centralized kitchens is highly desirable
- Own car preferable
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent operational planning and problem‑solving ability
- Solid understanding of inventory management, production, and distribution
- High level of financial literacy, including the ability to analyze income statements
- Strong organizational, communication, and decision‑making skills

This role will include shift work – operating hours are 6am to 4pm Monday to Saturday.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Management
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations across all bakery and coffee franchise locations
- Ensure consistent execution of brand standards, food safety, and customer service
- Drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement across stores
- Resolve operational issues promptly and effectively
Production & Supply Chain
- Manage bakery production, ensuring quality, consistency, and cost efficiency
- Oversee distribution of bakery and food products to franchise locations
- Manage stock control, inventory levels, wastage, and supplier relationships
- Implement systems to improve forecasting, ordering, and logistics
People Management
- Lead, develop, and manage store managers and operational teams
- Oversee staff rosters to ensure optimal coverage and labor cost controlbe
- Ensure compliance with labor laws, workplace safety, and HR policies
- Build a high‑performance culture focused on accountability and service excellence
- Demonstrate strong financial acumen with the ability to read and interpret income statements
- Monitor revenue, margins, labor costs, food costs, and operating expenses
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial performance reviews
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability and cost efficiency
- Support franchise growth initiatives and new store openings
- Implement operational strategies aligned with company objectives
- Work closely with ownership and senior leadership on performance and expansion plans
Salary: R20 000 – R25 000 depending on experience
