KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise operational plans in order to coordinate and optimize the utilization of the area’s resources for all field work to be undertaken. Ensure that repairs and maintenance are carried out within the accepted response times and deadline to ensure proper service delivery to customers. Ensure that work orders and defects are prioritized and executed for repairs and maintenance.
- Investigate and implement new and more effective work methods and techniques in consultation with the Operational Manager. Operate, maintain and install large valves, PRVs, Air Valves etc. and pipes to 1500mm diameter on the network. Ensure provision of water services to informal settlement in consultation with onsite services. Supervise the inspection for roadworthy and ensuring that logbooks and checklists are completed and submitted. Oversee the scheduling and execution of maintenance, repairs, upgrades and mechanical and water-related equipment installations.
- Ensure availability of necessary equipment, materials, tools and workforce for assigned tasks. Prepare emergency response schedules and oversee standby and overtime duties as needed. Supervise operational activities, reporting issues, and recommending adjustments to improve effectiveness. Supervise team members in compliance with HR policies. Develop and implement approaches to enhance team efficiency and overall output.
- Maintain accurate expenditure records for assigned equipment. Ensure expenditures are necessary and within budget limits. Provide input on material cost estimates for planning purposes. Monitor and enforce adherence to statutory requirements under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Construction and regulations. Liaison with contractors, customers, members of the public, suppliers, other departments and utilities
JOB REQUIREMENTS : ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Grade 12 or N3 (NQF4)
- Fitter, Welder, Bricklaying Trade Test certificate / Appropriate Learnership NQF4
- 4 years relevant experience in all functions related to the maintenance of larger valves / pipes, PRVs, reinstatement and Onsite Services in all informal settlements of which 1 year must be at supervisory level.
- Valid Code EB drivers Driver’s License.
