Job summary

A leading health department in South Africa is seeking a candidate with a Degree/Diploma in foodservice management and a minimum of 5 years' relevant experience. Responsibilities include managing food services, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, and supervising staff. Requirements


  • An appropriate Degree/Diploma in foodservice management/ Food and Beverages/ Hospitality Management or equivalent . A minimum of 5 years’ experience of relevant experience is required. Computer literacy. Good interpersonal relations and good communication and numeracy skills. Effective leadership skills. Prior knowledge of stock and key control is required. Must be able to cope with the physical demand of the position. Be able to work in a team, independently and under pressure. Be prepared to work shifts (weekends and Public Holidays included). Knowledge of Public service Acts and regulations, Basic conditions of Employment Act, National and provincial Framework, PFMA. Good financial management knowledge, problem solving, quality survey knowledge, presentation, analytical skills and conflict management skills.


Duties


  • Manage Food services according to food-based guidelines (FBG) in terms of portion control, quality control and service standards. Manage Food preparations, serving of food and refreshment. Manage stock levels and conduct stock taking monthly/ as required per need. Key control policy should be implemented and monitored. Ensure that equipment functions well and that it complies with Occupational health and safety (OHS), Environmental Health Practices (EHP) and infection control (IPC) is adhered to. Apply Hygiene in food service unit by ratifying that cleanliness in the unit is up to good standards. Compile performance documents (PMDS) and conduct performance reviews as per PMDS policy. Be involved in developing and implementing of SOPs in the section. Compiling reports/ statistics monthly/as per need. Supervision in the section at all times.
