Job description

A leading medical company is seeking a Financial Accountant in their offices in Pinetown to assist with a contract role.

The Financial Accountant will be responsible for processing and preparing information used for reporting purposes. This role will report directly to the Regional Statutory Financial Manager.

Responsibilities:

1. Ownership of timely completion and accurate monthly calculations and posting of relevant journal entries.
2. Reporting of sales and other related numbers at month-end closing.
3. Preparation of VAT calculations and timely submission of VAT returns monthly.
4. Complete month, quarter, and year-end closing processes accurately and timeously.
5. Respond on controls in place and drive process improvements to enhance the internal control environment.
6. Ensure a smooth audit and finalization of internal audit requirements.
7. Collaborate and support internal stakeholders to obtain all necessary financial information.
8. Support and assist with planned and ad hoc harmonization projects within Finance in South Africa.
9. Identify areas of improvement within current processes in the Finance team and assist with driving change.
10. Support the Statutory Financial Manager with projects and daily operational requirements.

Requirements:

• Must have a BCom Accounting degree.
• Minimum of 3 years' finance experience in a similar role as a Financial Accountant or Financial Analyst within FMCG industry and a global multinational structure.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and financial information/reporting systems SAP and AARO.
• Project experience and implementations will be an advantage.
• Must be organized, deadline-driven, with excellent attention to detail and numeric accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and fluency in English.
• Must be strategically agile in understanding all business components and their interrelations.
• Must be collaborative at all levels internally and externally, cross-functionally, and customer-centric.
