Overview

Pinetown. A well-established and respected business within the Manufacturing sector is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. If you have a solid understanding of costing and IFRS, and you're looking for a challenging yet rewarding role, we’d love to hear from you!

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly general ledger reconciliations for sign-off by the Financial Manager
• Manage Finance Clerks to ensure achievement of departmental objectives
• Review accruals submitted by finance clerks
• Assist with Forex transactions, including instructions and FECs
• Participate in stock counts and investigate stock discrepancies
• Post month-end journal entries to finalize the trial balance
• Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns
• Investigate and resolve intercompany debtor/creditor queries
• Assist in financial projects and ad hoc tasks
• Handle petty cash transactions
• Prepare and upload monthly Hyperion pack and operational reports
• Act as Finance Manager in their absence

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Finance (e.g. BCom)
• Completed articles and postgraduate qualification (advantageous)
• Solid understanding of costing and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
• Strong knowledge of accounting and tax principles
• Experience with Hyperion, JD Edwards (JDE), and ABACA (beneficial)
• Proficient in Excel models, pivot tables, and MS Office Suite
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Able to manage deadlines under pressure, including overtime and weekends when required
