Financial Manager (Path to Future CFO) – CompuCable
We’re looking for a hands‑on Financial Manager to be the driving force behind CompuCable’s financial stability and growth as we scale.
This is a builder role, not a maintainer role – ideal for someone who thrives in a growing, project‑based environment and wants a clear path to CFO/Finance Director.
What you’ll do
First 90 days – Your non‑negotiables:
- Stabilise cashflow and build weekly cashflow forecasts
- Implement daily/weekly cash position tracking
- Improve debtor collections and enforce supplier payment terms
- Set up project‑level job costing and real‑time project profitability visibility
- Document and formalise core financial processes (AP, AR, month‑end, reporting)
Ongoing responsibilities:
- Oversee Accounts Payable/Receivable and transactional processing
- Deliver monthly management accounts and board‑ready financial packs
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and KPI tracking (margins, AR days, cash runway)
- Implement/optimise accounting systems and internal controls
- Ensure tax and regulatory compliance (SARS, VAT, PAYE, BEE, labour)
Strategic impact:
- Partner with CEO & COO on capital allocation and growth decisions
- Support investment readiness and fundraising (investor packs, due diligence)
- Help build a Financial Management Office and grow into a CFO role
What we’re looking for
Essential:
- 3–5 years hands‑on financial management experience (project‑based / construction / similar)
- Relevant degree (e.g. BCom Finance/Accounting, CA(SA) articles, CIMA advantage)
- Proven cashflow crisis management and business stabilisation experience
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets and accounting software skills (Sage/Xero/QuickBooks or similar)
- Solid knowledge of South African tax & compliance (SARS, VAT, PAYE)
- A builder mindset – comfortable creating systems from scratch
Nice to have:
- CA(SA) or completed articles
- SME/start‑up/high‑growth experience
- Audit prep & external accountant liaison experience
- Experience partnering directly with CEO/COO and managing small teams
Personal attributes:

Compensation & growth
- Salary: R336,000 – R420,000 per annum (depending on experience)
- Performance bonus: Up to 15% of salary, linked to 90‑day and annual KPIs
- Growth path:
- Year 1 – Financial Manager (operations‑focused, cashflow & systems)
- Year 2 – Senior Financial Manager (small team leadership, deeper strategy)
- Year 3+ – CFO / Finance Director (executive role, full P&L, board & investor relations)
