Finance Manager role at Truco Rubber

Responsible for overseeing and managing the financial operations of the company. This includes the preparation of financial reports, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Role Purpose

The role requires a deep understanding of financial strategy, as well as the ability to analyse and interpret complex financial data.

Overview

TRUCO (Transvaal Rubber Company) has been the leading South African manufacturer and supplier of mining and industrial rubber products for over a hundred years.

Main products include rubber sheeting, mining and industrial hose, conveyor belting and fender systems.

TRUCO runs the largest Hand Built hose manufacturing plant on the continent and supplies major mines and other industries with quality rubber and slurry hose.

TRUCO is looking for a self-motivated, “hands‑on”, highly energetic individual, service-orientated, active team player and ability to work independently.

Specific Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis – Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts and annual financial statements in accordance with accounting standards, companies act and company policies. Ensure all reports are completed on time and accurately reflect the financial position of the organization. Provide financial analysis to senior management on company performance. Analyse trends, financial data, and forecasts to inform business decisions.
  • General Ledger Management – Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are correctly recorded. Oversee the reconciliation of accounts, identifying discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.
  • Budgeting & Forecasting – Support the preparation of budgets and provide analysis on variances from the budget. Work closely with other departments to ensure that financial forecasts are accurate and achievable.
  • Cash Flow Management – Assist with the management of cash flow by reviewing receipts and payments. Prepare cash flow forecasts and assist in financial planning.
  • Internal Controls – Ensure adherence to the company's internal controls to prevent fraud or errors. Work with auditors to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Accounting Process Improvement – Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of accounting processes. Implement best practices for financial recordkeeping and reporting.
  • Compliance & Regulation – Ensure compliance with relevant accounting, companies act, taxation, reserve bank and other regulations. Prepare and file tax and other returns in a timely manner and assist with any audits as required.
  • Team Leadership & Development – Lead and manage the finance team, providing coaching and mentoring to develop skills and improve performance. Oversee training and development programs for the finance department.
Skills and Attributes (required)
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
