Overview

My client in the Midrand is currently looking for an Equity Analyst.

Responsibilities
  • Take joint oversight over a team of equity analysts responsible for producing research reports for a large private investment manager on both local and offshore listed equities. Manage the team workflow, maintain quants research database and train team members on investment processes.
  • Analyse data to assess and describe current and long-term trends at both an industry and company level and identify investment opportunities to incorporate into client portfolios. Take specific ownership of analysing a broad spectrum of local and offshore companies, creating valuation models and formulating investment recommendations. More general analyst responsibilities will include performing presentations, financial statement analysis and building and maintaining financial models to evaluate historical performance and generate projections.
  • Sector presentations, that elaborate on revenue and earnings drivers and interpretation of trends. Sales, marketing and communication related tasks that emanate from the research process.
  • Ensure accuracy of all research related tasks emanating from the portfolio management process.
Outcomes
  • Relevant, accurate and valuable reporting to all relevant stakeholders. Communicate in a timely and structured manner and in alternative ways and channels with the goal of increasing the adoption rate of managed portfolios.
  • Take a visible role as leader amongst the analyst team by setting an example of an analyst that is engaged and makes a visible contribution to research efficiency and team learning.
  • Ensuring accuracy of team members work so that work can be approved with minimal referrals ensuring quick turnaround times. Continuously automate processes to improve capacity.
Minimum requirements
  • B. Com Investment Management degree
  • CFA Charter Holder
  • 2-3 years’ relevant experience required
  • Previous team oversight experience
  • Advanced MS Excel and VBA required
