Job summary

A reputable mining company in Gauteng is seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist to develop and implement environmental strategies. Candidates should have a B.Sc. in Environmental Science or Engineering, at least 8-10 years in management, and a solid understanding of environmental legislation. Excellent communication and project management skills are essential. Travel between plant sites is required.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. Honours Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional Registration with a recognized environmental body (advantageous).
• Recognised certification in Environmental law, Environmental Auditing, EIA’s and Environmental Systems.
• 8 to 10 years’ experience in a management position in a mining environment.
• Proven track record in developing and implementing environmental strategies and policies.
• Extensive experience in conducting environmental audits and ensuring compliance with environmental laws.
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and managing relationships with regulatory authorities.
• Experience with mine closure programmes and thorough knowledge of environmental legislation.
• Excellent organizational, time management, analytical skills, and project management skills.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between plant sites.

Overview

Hire Resolve's client, a reputable company in Gauteng, is looking for a skilled and experienced Environmental Specialist to join their mining team.

Responsibilities

• B.Sc. Honours Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering
• Professional Registration with a recognized environmental body (advantageous)
• Recognised certification in Environmental law, Environmental Auditing, EIA’s and Environmental Systems
• At least 8 to 10 years’ experience in a management position in a mining environment
• Proven track record in developing and implementing environmental strategies and policies
• Extensive experience in conducting environmental audits, ensuring compliance with environmental laws and regulations
• Experience in stakeholder engagement and managing relationships with regulatory authorities
• Experience with mine closure programmes, experience in ISO 14001 EMS and thorough knowledge of environmental legislation and dealing with regulatory authorities
• Knowledge and understanding of Basic workplace Health and Safety principles is essential
• Excellent organizational, time management, analytical skills, written and verbal communication, and project management skills
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between plant sites
• Proven ability in managing EIAs, understanding the interaction between environment and AfriSam corporate strategy, ability to involve and coordinate internal resources and activities to deliver on requests, comprehensive knowledge of environmental science and being able to successfully integrate mining and the environment
