NAME OF THE ROLE: Employee Benefits Operational Support Junior Consultant (CPT)

The company provides asset management, stockbroking and administration services, as well as a wide range of savings products, to institutional and retail clients. All that we do is supported by leading-edge technology platforms.

ROLE DESCRIPTION

Sygnia Limited are seeking to appoint a capable and skilled professional to fulfil the function of EB Operational support junior consultantwithin the Employee Benefits Operation Support department.

DUTIES AND DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to) taking responsibility of any clients or product ranges assigned to the various teams that make up the Employee Benefits Operation Support department:

Section 14 transfers
  • Assist with the collation of required information and documents for submission to senior specialist for transfers IN and OUT of the fund.
  • Follow-up regularly with the transferor fund until the S14 application is received – transfers IN.
  • Follow-up regularly with the administrator and consultant until the S14 requirements are received – transfers OUT.
  • Prepare the first drafts of the required forms as instructed by senior specialist.
  • Follow-up on payments regularly with transferor funds (transfers IN) as well as internally (transfers out) until payments for all members included on the transfer application has been received/paid.
New and revised special rules
  • Prepare the first drafts of new special rules using the employer participation application (EPA) and other supporting documents for onward submission to senior specialist.
  • Prepare the first draft of revised special rules using the employer’s resolution and the current registered special rules onward submission to senior specialist.
  • Notify supervisors, the administrator team, and consultants once Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) approval is received.
Submission to FSCA other than other rules and section 14 transfers (no drafting)
  • Assist senior specialist with the submission of documents, appointment letters/applications, extension applications and responses to the FSCA in respect of the Funds’ valuations, annual financial statements, Section 7B exemptions and Section 26 Trustee requirements.
Section 37C – death claims
  • Assist with the collation of required information and documents for submission to senior specialist.
  • Maintain records of all investigations.
  • Draft trustee resolutions for onward submission to senior specialist.
  • Draft beneficiary communication for onward submission to senior specialist.
ROLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Relevant Degree/Diploma with specialization in law (e.g., LLB)
  • Post graduate law qualification preferred
  • Knowledge of the legislation governing retirement funds, especially the Pension Funds Act.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint)
