Job summary
A leading recruitment agency is seeking an experienced electrical engineer to design and oversee electrical substations. You will perform system analysis and liaise with contractors to ensure compliance with regulations. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, 5 years of relevant experience, and proficiency in power system design software. This role may require travel to project sites.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years experience in substation and electrical distribution projects.
- Solid understanding of SANS, NRS, and relevant engineering codes.
- Registered or eligible for registration with ECSA.

Key Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and oversee the installation and maintenance of electrical substations and distribution systems
- Perform system analysis, fault level studies, and load flow calculations
- Prepare technical specifications, engineering reports, and project documentation
- Liaise with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure compliance with electrical standards and regulations
- Support commissioning and troubleshooting activities for electrical infrastructure projects
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality assurance protocols throughout the project lifecycle
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum of 35 years experience in substation and electrical distribution projects
- Proficient in power system design, electrical drawings, and relevant software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, DigSilent, and ETAP)
- Solid understanding of SANS, NRS, and other applicable engineering codes and practices
- Valid driver\'s license and willingness to travel to project sites
