Overview

Preparing layout, assembly and part drawings for components e.g body panels, drivers door, passenger entrance door, battery holders, air ducts, component parts.

Responsibilities

• Creating and revising detailed technical drawings (2D and 3D) using SolidWorks software
• Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and design requirements for frames (door, underframe and side frames, chassis preparations, internal and external cladding, electrical diagrams)
• Participating in design reviews and suggesting improvements for functionality and production efficiency
• Assisting in prototype development and supporting the manufacturing process by providing technical documentation e.g SANS
• Maintaining drawing database of the entire structure and ensuring version control of design files between manufacturer and service providers

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Certificate in mechanical Engineering
• 2 - 5 Years experience as a draughtsman
• Must come from the Automotive or Manufacturing sector
• Must be proficient in CAD Software (e.g SolidWorks)
• Must have a good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and motor vehicle designing principles
