A leading manufacturing company is seeking a Distribution Supervisor to ensure efficient, on‑time product deliveries while optimising fleet management, enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining high customer service standards. The ideal candidate has a BComm or BSc degree, with 1–2 years of FMCG distribution experience. Knowledge of quality, food safety, safety systems, and cold chain supply is preferred. This role involves tracking and reporting progress through scorecards, optimising processes like route planning and overtime, and collaborating across business units to achieve seamless operations.
Responsibilities
- Team Oversight: Oversee distribution staff activities to ensure efficient workflow and compliance with company policies.
- Performance Tracking: Use scorecards to measure distribution activities and communicate efficiencies to the Depot Manager.
- Timely Deliveries: Ensure accurate and on‑time product deliveries by coordinating transportation and logistics.
- Optimise delivery routes.
- Maintain fleet in excellent working condition.
- Build strong relationships with fleet management vendors.
- Safety and Compliance: Enforce safety protocols to meet regulations and protect employees.
- Review daily fleet inspection sheets and address reported issues.
- Ensure the team complies with regulations, resolving issues with the Depot Manager as necessary.
- Training and Development: Provide opportunities to enhance team productivity.
- Conduct training sessions based on identified needs reported by the Expeditor.
- Hold annual workshops to reinforce responsibilities, documentation, and safety training.
- Employee Growth: Assess performance, address concerns, and implement strategies to improve adherence to scorecard objectives.
- Cross‑Department Collaboration: Work with departments like Sales and Customer Service to streamline processes.
- Compile and communicate daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the Business Unit, Call Centre, and Debtors.
Requirements
- A Bachelor of Commerce or Bachelor of Science in logistics, supply chain, or a related field essential.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in FMCG distribution.
- Knowledge of quality, food safety, and safety systems preferred.
- Understanding of cold chain supply management is an asset.
- Proficient in English with intermediate computer literacy.
