Role Overview

The Digital Solutions Specialist will act as a strategic advisor and technical expert, supporting MTN South Africa’s digital services strategy. This role involves designing, integrating, and optimizing digital platforms, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving innovation across media, messaging, and mobile advertising ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand MTN’s Enterprise Architecture and digital ecosystem interactions.
• Develop strategies for API and microservices integration, replacing legacy interfaces with cloud-based solutions.
• Participate in projects for new product development and feature enhancements.
• Document technical processes, functional requirements, and system architecture updates.
• Standardize processes and procedures for digital platform optimization.
• Liaise with product owners, technical leads, and global vendors in a culturally diverse environment.
• Ensure adherence to security standards and regulatory compliance (ICASA, TCF).
• Perform troubleshooting, network trace analysis (Wireshark), and regression testing.
• Lead a team of developers and guide business stakeholders on technical solutions.
• Manage relationships with service providers and ensure timely project feedback.
• Contribute to roadmaps, capacity planning, and system reporting.

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong understanding of IT and Telecommunications, VAS, and digital systems.
• Experience with digital platforms, mobile advertising, and service delivery.
• Basic scripting skills (Perl, Python, SQL, Linux/Unix Shells).
• Database expertise (Oracle preferred; MySQL acceptable).
• Solid networking knowledge (IP, OSI layers); SS7, SIGTRAN, SIP advantageous.
• Systems analysis and design experience.
• Familiarity with virtualization and cloud technologies (training available).
• Excellent documentation skills for user stories, use cases, and system procedures.
• Ability to manage budgets and forecast costs with suppliers.
• Working knowledge of hardware lifecycle (EOL/EOS).
