Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and qualified Diesel Mechanic with a minimum of three years post qualification hands-on experience to join our team as a Diesel Mechanic Apprentice Trainer.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for imparting practical and theoretical knowledge to our students, ensuring they gain the skills necessary for a successful career in automotive repair and maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Training Delivery: Conduct practical and theoretical training sessions for students, covering all aspects of automotive repair and maintenance (Diesel / Commercial).
- Curriculum Development: Assist in developing, updating, and improving the training curriculum to ensure it meets industry standards and the needs of students.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate and assess student performance through practical tests, written exams, and continuous assessment methods.
- Mentoring: Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to students, helping them to achieve their learning goals and career aspirations.
- Workshop Management: Oversee the maintenance and organization of the training workshop, ensuring it is equipped and safe for student use.
- Industry Updates: Stay updated with the latest advancements in automotive technology and repair techniques related to the trade, and incorporate this knowledge into training sessions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a qualified diesel mechanic in a reputable workshop or dealership.
- Education: Red Seal Certification (Section 26D) Diesel mechanic or diploma in automotive mechanics (or a related field) may be considered. Additional qualifications in teaching or training and assessment will be advantageous.
- Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, hydraulics / pneumatics and diagnostics.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner.
- Teaching Abilities: Demonstrated ability to teach and train others, with experience in a training or educational role preferred.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
- Organizational Skills: Effective organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
