Job summary

A maritime staffing agency is seeking a vessel crew member in Johannesburg, South Africa. Responsibilities include assisting in vessel operation, providing customer service to guests, ensuring safety, and participating in emergency procedures. Qualifications

• Previous experience on a vessel or in a maritime environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the operation and maintenance of the vessel.
• Provide excellent customer service to guests onboard the cruise ship.
• Handle lines and assist with docking and undocking procedures.
• Perform routine safety checks and maintain a safe working environment.
• Participate in emergency drills and be familiar with emergency procedures.
• Assist with the loading and unloading of cargo and supplies.
• Help with the preparation and serving of meals for guests and crew.
• Monitor and report any issues to the Captain.
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.

- Assist in the operation and maintenance of the vessel, including cleaning and maintenance of decks, equipment, and machinery

- Provide excellent customer service to guests onboard the cruise ship

- Handle lines and assist with docking and undocking procedures

- Perform routine safety checks and maintain a safe working environment

- Participate in emergency drills and be familiar with emergency procedures

- Assist with the loading and unloading of cargo and supplies

- Help with the preparation and serving of meals for guests and crew

- Monitor and report any issues or concerns to the Captain or other crew members

- Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed

- Follow all company policies and procedures, as well as maritime laws and regulations

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent

- Previous experience on a vessel or in a maritime environment preferred

- Basic knowledge of navigation, safety procedures, and maintenance

- Ability to work long hours and in varying weather conditions

- Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills

- Valid seafarer's medical certificate and STCW Basic Safety Training
