A large agricultural group in Stellenbosch is looking for a Cost Accountant to calculate and analyze gross profits, monitor costs, and assist in costing models. Large, integrated and well-established group in the agriculture sector is looking to employ a Cost Accountant. This group has interests across the country and this role will be situated in Stellenbosch, Western Cape.

The ideal candidate will have cost accounting experience, and within Agriculture, Farming, Export, Manufacturing, Processing, or similar, an advantage. For more junior candidates, on the job training and guidance will be provided. Tertiary and professional qualifications will be an added benefit but not required if the candidate has the desired experience.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Calculate and analyze Gross Profit (GP) per product, variety, market, and customer.
  • Monitor and report cost of sales and cost per unit across different export channels.
  • Assist and update costing models.
  • Perform variance analysis between actual and budgeted costs.
  • Track and report logistics costs.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and dashboards for management.
  • Maintain costing records for traceability and regulatory purposes.
  • Work with ERP systems (ProduceLink, Business Central, Navision, etc.).
  • Perform cost calculations and input into the system.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements in cost tracking and reporting.
  • Assist in seasonal cost planning and budgeting.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards.
  • Liaise with procurement, logistics, finance, and operations teams.
  • Support forecasting and planning activities with accurate cost data.
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings to align costing with operational goals.
  • Ad hoc financial assistance and admin as required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Matric and Costing / Cost Accounting experience.
  • Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Cost Accounting, Management Accounting, Accounting, or similar.
  • 3+ years’ relatable experience.
  • ProduceLink, Business Central, Navision, or related ERP experience advantageous.
  • Practical or theoretical Cost Accounting knowledge or experience.
  • MS Excel proficiency.
Remuneration
  • R300,000 to R480,000 per annum cost to company, depending on experience.
