Job description
Job Function:

To coordinate and control the quality of the work activities of a team that executes a load plan for the cost effective, on-time and in-full delivery of client loads, contributing to managerial decision-making. To be the responsible custodian of company assets to coordinate, control and manage the quality and effectiveness of the resources under their custody to ensure optimal vehicle uptime and utilisation. To ensure compliance to company policy and road traffic and labour legislation.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Execute own work and team work according to set operating procedures and service level agreements.
  • Execute own work and teamwork in line with governance and compliance processes.
  • Monitor and report on own and team’s transactional activities to provide timely information for decision making.
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver own and team activities to ensure that agreed standards and operational objectives are met (daily to 3 months).
  • Coordinate and participate in learning interventions to establish a learning and development.
  • Coordinate and monitor daily work activities within the team environment in order to prevent financial losses.
  • Coordinate team activities to meet and exceed internal and external customer expectations.
  • Conduct daily pre trip vehicle inspection fitness to ensure road worthiness.
  • Conduct driver PPE inspections and ensure driver fitness.
  • Brief, despatch drivers and fleet to execute load deliveries as per load plan.
  • Expedite drivers to execute load deliveries as per client expectations and in accordance with the assigned journey management plan.
  • Debrief drivers, check and control delivery documentation and conduct post delivery vehicle inspection, record and report vehicle defects.
  • Ensure adherence to vehicle cleaning and maintenance schedules.
  • Create an engaging, enabling and productive work climate aligned to the employee value proposition by demonstrating leadership through personal commitment to organisational values.
  • Execute the capture of trip and trip sheet information in all relevant operational systems.
  • Manage and report all non-conformance incidents.
  • Coordinate drivers practical and theoretical training.
  • Ensure drivers annual medicals are conducted, together with annual Professional driver permits are valid at all times.
  • Responsible to ensure drivers working and resting hours per shift are in accordance with line with legislation.
  • Ensure driver and general worker staff undergo the relevant company and client risk inductions.
  • Responsible for the timely and accurate transfer of communication to clients.
Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 (matric).
  • Bachelor's or equivalent 3-year degree (NQF Level 7).
Skills and Experience:
  • Up to 5 years of experience in a similar environment with at least 2 years tactical leadership or specialist experience.
