Requirements :

  • Degree or Diploma in Psycho - Social Science, 3-5 years training mentoring experience and registration with a relevant professional council, experience in HIV Children and Adult Disclosure and HIV-TB Adherence and Disclosure counselling including the HIV Counselling Certificate. Excellent time management, organizational skills, written and communication skills, good listening skills. Self –motivated and goal orientated, people management skills, Presentation and teamwork skills, analytical and solution orientated, ability to thrive well, Under pressure, ability to efficiently communication to technical and non-technical Personnel at various levels. Valid driver’s license, Computer literacy, and Clear criminal record.

Duties :

  • Maintain the emotional well-being for HIV-TB Lay Counsellors, provide a support system for the HIV-TB programme Lay Counsellors, create an open, candid atmosphere for HIV -TB Lay Counsellors to confide and trust in the mentor. Collaborate with and offer effective oversight to all Community Based HTS/TB Developmental partners. Facilitate creation of Community Based Support Adherence Groups. Ensure skills transfer by facilitating opportunities for Lay Counsellor to grow. Assist in ensuring the delivery of quality counselling services to the clients, Provides weekly and monthly Mentorship and HTS Performance report to Sub District and District. Facilitate Training on RTCQI and Ensure that Lay Counsellors are implementing Internal Quality Control and Proficiency Testing as required. Mentor Lay Counsellors on different modalities for HTS, such as Index testing, HIV Self Screening. Provide mentorship to all non-medical site’s providers, other governmental organizations such as Correctional Services, HTS-TB partners, tertiary institutions, Improve the efficiency of HIV-TB counselling in meeting HIV and AIDS programs indicators, Assist Community Based Organizations to map out Hot Spots and identify different Key populations within the Community. Ensures that HTS-TB targets are achieved by advocating for resources and offer support, accordingly, Check and monitor HIV testing Kits orders against targets and assist with ordering projections and analyze performance patterns. Interrogate reported Web, HIS HTS-TB data and liaise with NGO managers regarding HTS-TB Lay Counsellor’s HR related issues e.g., appointment, dismissal, leaves etc., Conduct induction/orientation of new HTS/TB counsellors. Keeps database of all HIV-TB Lay Counsellors working in the non-medical sites that are under supervision. Partnership with WBPHCOT, GAC, JAC, DSD, DOE, DHE and RTC as local stakeholders.
