Job summary

A governmental department in South Africa is seeking a Financial Management professional to manage cash flow and investment portfolios. Candidates should hold a 3-year degree in Financial Management alongside a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in finance. Job Purpose

Provincial Treasury, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and competent individual to ensure the WCPA cash flow matters and optimise/maximise return on financial investment (surplus funds) within acceptable levels of risk. This post is stationed in Cape Town, CBD.

Minimum Requirements

An appropriate 3 year B-degree (equivalent or higher qualification) in Financial Management; A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Banking, Finance, Cash Flow or Investments; A valid (Code B or higher) driving licence. NB: People with disabilities that restrict driving abilities, but who have reasonable access to transport, may also apply.

  • Administer and offering bank services such as opening accounts, identifying users, ACB accounts, implementing and training on the bank system and advice on banking system for all departments in the Western Cape Province
  • Verifying financial templates to account for the Provincial Revenue Fund (PRF) and formulas, preparing work papers and assisting with the compilation/consolidation of Annual Financial Statements for auditing by the AG
  • Verifying and update the BAS system with the relevant information
  • Reconciliation and clearing interfaces of the BAS system
  • To provide draft reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly) to management to achieve all performance objectives in accordance with the annual performance plan and personal performance plan
Competencies

Remuneration

R 468 459 - R 561 894 per annum (Salary level 9)

Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes

Shortlisted candidates will be required to attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. All shortlisted candidates, shall undertake two pre-entry assessments. One will be a practical exercise to determine a candidate’s suitability based on the post’s technical and generic requirements and the other must be an integrity (ethical conduct) assessment. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
