Job Description

The Candidate Engineer - Dams and Hydropower will provide technical support in feasibility studies, design and inspections across dam engineering disciplines, including dam structures, foundations, construction materials, spillway, and hydraulic and flood hydrological analyses.

The role involves working within multidisciplinary teams and contributing to local and international projects from feasibility studies through detailed design, construction support and contract administration.

Here is what you will be doing (under supervision of an experienced engineer):
  • Assist with dam safety inspections.
  • Support designs of all types of dams.
  • Participate in quality assurance during dam construction projects.
  • Prepare project specifications, bill of quantities and tender documentation.
  • Conduct hydrological and hydraulic analysis of catchment runoff and watercourses.
  • Perform hydraulic modelling and design of spillway and other hydraulic structures.
  • Utilise design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, etc).
  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
Minimum requirements
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Exposure with design software will be advantageous (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, etc).
  • Prior exposure to dam engineering will be advantageous.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 0-3 years' experience post-graduation.
