Job summary

A leading recruitment consultancy is seeking an experienced Butchery Manager to oversee a supermarket butchery and a production plant in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal. The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of experience in butchery management, a solid understanding of meat processing, and exceptional leadership and financial skills. Responsibilities include managing operations, achieving profitability targets, training staff, and maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in butchery management, ideally in a retail environment.
  • Experience managing large teams (minimum 30 staff).
  • Strong understanding of meat production and processing.
  • Solid financial skills related to stock control and profitability.
  • Excellent leadership, organisational, and customer service skills.

  • Control and manage stock levels and product ranges.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, weighing, and point-of-sale systems.

  • Implement SOPs and process improvements.
  • Lead and mentor butchery staff.
  • Oversee training, performance, and team scheduling.

Our client in the FMCG/Retail sector is looking for an experienced Butchery Manager to take ownership of both their supermarket butchery and their butchery production plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in meat processing, team leadership, and operational control.

You’ll manage a team of over 45 staff members, oversee stock and quality, maintain compliance with hygiene and food safety standards, and drive profitability through effective cost and waste management.
