Business Development Representative (Healthcare Technology) – A

Pearl, Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Fully remote with overlap required in EST working hours.

Full-time independent contractor.

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:00 AM-5:00 PM EST).

Role Overview

We are looking for a strategic, consultative Business Development Representative to generate qualified opportunities through outbound engagement with healthcare decision-makers.

This is not a high-volume transactional role; it requires curiosity, persistence, and strong judgment to build meaningful connections.

Your Impact

  • Maintain a strong, consistent pipeline of qualified prospects.
  • Represent a respected healthcare technology brand.
  • Improve outbound strategy by sharing market insights and refining messaging.
Core Responsibilities
Lead Generation & Prospecting (30%)
  • Identify and qualify potential clients via research, outbound calls, and LinkedIn outreach.
  • Approach conversations with curiosity and insight.
Client Engagement (25%)
  • Conduct discovery conversations to uncover needs and pain points.
  • Position solutions effectively while actively listening.
Appointment Setting & Relationship Building (20%)
  • Schedule qualified meetings by establishing credibility and trust.
  • Track follow-ups and priorities in the CRM.
CRM & Data Management (15%)
  • Maintain accurate records of outreach and conversations.
  • Analyze performance metrics to refine strategies.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement (10%)
  • Partner with sales and marketing teams to enhance messaging.
  • Share market insights to support strategy development.
Required Qualifications

2+ years of sales development, business development, or outbound prospecting experience (healthcare, SaaS or B2B tech preferred).

Strong consultative communication style with thoughtful, unexpected questions.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Experience with CRM systems (Notion, HubSpot or Salesforce).

Highly organized, self-starter, results-driven.

Ability to meet outbound performance expectations: dials, personalized emails, ~20 conversations per day, at least 5 meaningful conversations with decision-makers, 2–3 qualified meetings per day.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Background or familiarity with healthcare systems or technology.
  • Experience with sales automation tools such as Outreach or SalesLoft.
  • Track record of exceeding lead or meeting generation quotas.
  • Understanding of HIPAA compliance and secure data handling.
  • Comfortable navigating multiple tools (Slack, AI dashboards, spreadsheets).
Tools Proficiency

CRM: Notion, HubSpot, Salesforce.

Communication: Gmail, Slack, Zoom, LinkedIn Sales Navigator.

Research & Prospecting: Apollo, Lusha or similar data tools.
