Job Description

Trinity Children’s Centre is looking to appoint a bookkeeper on a part‑time basis. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and reporting to senior management.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Record all financial transactions accurately and timeously in the accounting system.
  • Prepare journals and adjustments as per finance policy.
  • Maintain accurate general ledger records.
  • Prepare monthly financial management reports (trial balance, cash flow, budget variance, assets, depreciation).
  • Provide financial reports to the Principal and Managing Officer and highlight deviations or risks.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records, and oversee compliance with financial policies and statutory requirements.
  • Report on overspending, underspending and risk areas.
  • Uphold internal controls and strengthen gaps where identified.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register (additions, disposals, depreciation).
  • Provide full oversight of the debtors function and ensure strong financial controls, timely month‑end closure, accurate reporting and effective debt management.
  • Support operational staff by ensuring procurement, supplier and payroll processes are aligned and compliant.
  • Prepare payroll inputs (timesheets, adjustments, deductions).
  • Review the monthly payroll variance report.
  • Ensure the payroll system is updated and accurate.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting/Finance (preferred).
  • Experience in bookkeeping or financial administration.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting practices and regulations.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting and compliance practices, ethics and responsibilities.
  • Experience with statutory submissions and payroll.
  • Detail oriented and ability to work under pressure and within tight deadlines.
  • Must be able to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to explain financial concepts for non‑financial management and staff.
  • Work well independently but still contribute effectively and constructively as part of a team.
  • Community outreach / social development orientation.
  • Trustworthy, high integrity and disciplined.
  • Prepared to work overtime at peak financial periods – month end and year end.
  • A servant leadership attitude and style (high integrity, committed, resilient).
