The Institute for the Healing of Memories is currently seeking a qualified individual to join our team as a Full-Time Bookkeeper, supporting our Financial Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
  • Capturing monthly expenditure on Pastel and Pastel Payroll.
  • VAT claims and any SARS related reconciliations for VAT and payments.
  • Bank Deposits and obtaining of signatures from Trustees if need be.
  • Filing of weekly payments and other financial related matter.
  • Assisting Directors and Financial Manager in finance related matters.
  • Bank (deposit cash and cheques) and obtaining signatures from Trustees if need be.
  • Monitoring & reconciliation of bank statements.
  • Bookkeeping on Pastel and staff salaries on Pastel payroll including payment of UIF, PAYE and SDL and related reconciliation.
  • Asset register management.
  • Fielding financial and related queries.
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assisting the Financial Manager.
  • Financial management, budget compilation and monitoring in conjunction with the Directors.
  • Assisting programs with budget monitoring by providing them with quarterly budget comparison reports.
  • Financial and narrative reporting to the Board of Trustees.
  • Acknowledging donor funds and providing financial reports to donors and fundraisers when required.
  • Monitoring investments & bank balances in various accounts.Preparing accounts for audit and assisting with audit queries.
  • Insurance and asset management.
  • Any other financial assistance that may be required from time to time.
Qualifications And Requirements
  • Ideal candidate should possess a diploma or certificate in accounting or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping.
  • Proficiency with Pastel and Pastel Payroll programs is required.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and access to a car would be considered advantageous.
