Job Summary:

The Assistant Electrician supports the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment. This role involves assisting licensed electricians with wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and ensuring all electrical work complies with safety standards and company policies.

In a maritime setting, the role may also include supporting electrical work on vessels, shipyards, and port facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical wiring, lighting systems, and fixtures.
  • Help test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using testing devices (e.g., multimeters).
  • Support troubleshooting of electrical faults and report findings to the supervising electrician.
  • Carry tools, materials, and equipment to job sites and ensure work areas are clean and organized.
  • Follow all electrical codes, safety procedures, and company standards.
  • Assist with preventive maintenance schedules and keep accurate records of work performed.
  • Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Learn and apply technical knowledge from senior electricians to build skills.
Skills & Competencies:
  • Basic knowledge of electrical tools, wiring, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Team player with good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Physically fit and able to work in confined spaces or at heights (for shipboard or construction work).
Education & Experience:
  • High school certificate or equivalent (required).
  • Technical or vocational qualification in Electrical (N1N3 or equivalent).
  • 02 years of experience assisting electricians or working in maintenance.
  • Maritime experience (advantageous, if applying for shipyard or vessel-based roles).
